Java.Exploit.CVE-2010-0840.B is the detection for an obfuscated malicious Java class applet component that exploits the vulnerability in the Java Runtime Environment. Successful exploitation results in remote code execution. When a PC user visits a web page that includes the applet using a machine that is running a vulnerable version of Java, security applications may be avoided, that allows arbitrary code to be executed. Once loaded, Java.Exploit.CVE-2010-0840.B checks if the PC is running Windows, and if so, installs itself. Java.Exploit.CVE-2010-0840.B may come bundled with other harmless Java class applets. Java.Exploit.CVE-2010-0840.B downloads and runs arbitrary files. If the exploitation is successful, Java.Exploit.CVE-2010-0840.B tries to download and run a malicious program from a particular URL, sent as a parameter to the applet.
